About the Ql flex memory PCB

Ql flex memory is an open source PCB design by arleybls, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 97.8 × 35.6 mm, with 15 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the HM628512BLFP-7, GAL16V8B-25QP and LM1117-5.0. By type, the board carries 4 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 jumpers, 3 resistors and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

512kB external RAM expansion board for the Sinclair QL, with SuperBASIC/68008 RAM test software (KiCad, CERN-OHL-S v2)

A 512kB external RAM expansion for the Sinclair QL, based on Alvaro Alea Fernandez's design. The circuit is unchanged. This version reworks the board to make assembly and reconfiguration easier, hence the name.

Standard 2.54mm pin headers replace the configuration solder jumpers. Jumper caps now control the memory configuration and Trump Card mode. The GAL16V8 uses a PLCC-20 SMD socket instead of a DIP-20 through-hole package. The GAL remains removable and reprogrammable while taking up less board space. The resistors…
