About the DIY Mouse PCB

DIY Mouse is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by aSharcc, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 52 × 99 mm, with 17 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino Pro Micro 3.3v, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the PMW3360DM-T2QU and XC6206-1.8V. By type, the board carries 9 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 switches and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and power & battery designs in this gallery.

2 versions. 3.3V/8MHz Arduino Pro Micro (ATmega32U4) and Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C3.

I also intend for this mouse to be easily repairable.

- High performance sensor: 16,000 DPI via PixArt PMW3389 - Modular and Repairable - Hotswap Main Switches: Uses Mill-Max 3305 so can be replaced with no soldering - Replaceable MCU: Mounted using through-hole pin headers - Wireless and wired versions. - Sensor communication through SPI

DIY Mouse: common questions

What microcontroller does the DIY Mouse use?

The DIY Mouse is built around the Arduino Pro Micro 3.3v, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the DIY Mouse PCB?

The DIY Mouse measures 52 × 99 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the DIY Mouse?

17 components, from 10 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the DIY Mouse design files?

From the aSharcc/PMW3389-Custom-Mouse repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the DIY Mouse design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which aSharcc chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the DIY Mouse without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
