About the AnomalyKey PCB

AnomalyKey is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by asierpernias, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 61 × 29.8 mm, with 13 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-SMD, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the QMC5883L. By type, the board carries 4 capacitors, 4 resistors, 2 ICs, 1 speaker, 1 switch and 1 diode.

Output - PS1240P0P02BT Passive Piezo Buzzer THis is a piezo buzzer driven by a PWN signal from the microcontroller, in my case a XIAO RP2040. The frequency is defined by the strength of the magnetic field detected so, the closer it gets, the higher the pitch will be.

AnomalyKey: common questions

What microcontroller does the AnomalyKey use?

The AnomalyKey is built around the XIAO-RP2040-SMD, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the AnomalyKey PCB?

The AnomalyKey measures 61 × 29.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the AnomalyKey?

13 components, from 12 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the AnomalyKey design files?

From the asierpernias/AnomalyKey repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the AnomalyKey design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with asierpernias. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the AnomalyKey without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
