Honda Blackbird ECU Tooth Eater Hardware Module - Through hole version

This repository contains the hardware design of the Honda Blackbird v1.1 Tooth Eater Module - (Through hole version). This through hole version is intended for the DIY'er for easier construction. This PCB is a simple 2 layer design, measuring 44mm x 44mm for insertion into the Hammond 1551R case. This hardware is designed to work with the latest firmware version (v1.x) contained in the firmware respository. I.e. 'ToothEater_v1.2.hex'. Shown below are blank boards as received by PCBWay. This is a small unit slightly larger than a matchbox, shown in the 2" x 2" case.

ToothEater-HW-THT: common questions

What microcontroller does the ToothEater-HW-THT use?

The ToothEater-HW-THT is built around the ATTINY85-20PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ToothEater-HW-THT PCB?

The ToothEater-HW-THT measures 44 × 44 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ToothEater-HW-THT?

32 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ToothEater-HW-THT design files?

From the BlackbirdStandalone/ToothEater-HW-THT repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ToothEater-HW-THT design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which BlackbirdStandalone chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ToothEater-HW-THT without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
