About the 915Mhz PCB

915Mhz is an open source PCB design by brainstorm, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45.7 × 47.5 mm, with 14 components from 11 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the pe4259ds and SF2098. By type, the board carries 7 connectors, 3 capacitors, 2 ICs and 2 resistors.

It belongs with the rf & radio and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

915Mhz matching jig experiments

This is an experiment with a 915Mhz LoRa module and SAW filters as a substitute for discrete components. The original raison d'être of this repository is my personal outrage after seeing the following $100 evaluation board for the PE4259:

And indeed, AppliedCarbon from OSHPark also thought so and designed a smaller PCB.

Gold tracks and pads, many vias and proper RF engineering, sure, but $100 plus shipping? Let's see how the homemade way works in comparison? On the master branch of this repository, I'm putting together a board with the RF switch and the SAW filter (will be using a 915 Mhz…

The KiCad project lives in the brainstorm/915Mhz repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

915Mhz: common questions

How big is the 915Mhz PCB?

The 915Mhz measures 45.7 × 47.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 915Mhz?

14 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 915Mhz design files?

From the brainstorm/915Mhz repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 915Mhz design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with brainstorm. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
