About the Controller T41 rev0.3 PCB

Controller T41 rev0.3 is an open source NXP PCB design by brianamos1, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 102.9 × 69.9 mm, with 51 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Teensy4.1, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-5.0 and 74HCT245. By type, the board carries 33 resistors, 6 ICs, 5 connectors, 3 capacitors, 2 diodes and 1 fuse.

From the project

A board for driving 32 strings of pixels from a Teensy 4.1. Similar to the OctoWS2811, but with 32 outputs.

This board interfaces with a Teensy 4.1, and is designed to use the OctoWS2811 library to drive up to 32 strings of LEDS.

Version 0.2 is designed to use the Amphenol RJHSE508004-ND, which is a four port RJ45 jack. Version 0.2a uses the Adam Tech MTJG-4-88GX1-FSB, which is a less expensive and more readily available alternative.

The 2x3 pin that connects the board to the Teensy 4.1's ethernet pins is available on digikey and mouser, however is easier to source from PJRC when purchasing the Teensy 4.1. If you want the teensy to be removable, PJRC is the recommended source for that connector.…

Controller T41 rev0.3: common questions

What microcontroller does the Controller T41 rev0.3 use?

The Controller T41 rev0.3 is built around the Teensy4.1, from the NXP family.

How big is the Controller T41 rev0.3 PCB?

The Controller T41 rev0.3 measures 102.9 × 69.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Controller T41 rev0.3?

51 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Controller T41 rev0.3 design files?

From the brianamos1/DuotrigesimalWS2811 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Controller T41 rev0.3 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which brianamos1 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Controller T41 rev0.3 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
