Custom temperature controller for an electric kettle using an Arduino Nano, an NTC thermistor, and a solid state relay.
Custom temperature controller for an electric kettle using an Arduino Nano, an NTC thermistor, and a solid state relay. The system replaces the kettle's stock on/off bi-metal switch with a target-temperature interface, letting you hold water at a specific temperature (e.g. 90°C for pour-over coffee, 80°C for green tea) instead of only being able to boil.
- Target temperature set via rotary encoder (0–100°C), displayed live on an OLED screen - Custom proportional power-curve control (see below) instead of a simple on/off thermostat - Hardware safety systems fully independent of the…

Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller: common questions
What microcontroller does the Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller use?
The Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How many components are on the Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller?
12 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller design files?
From the Bubbles-sz/Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Bubbles-sz. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Arduino-Kettle-Temperature-Controller without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
