About the HostBoard PCB

HostBoard is an open source STM32 PCB design by comradef191, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 78.2 × 70.2 mm, with 53 components from 14 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Socketed MCU - STM32 BlackPill, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the TPS7A2033PDBVR and ThermEX16 Slot. By type, the board carries 16 connectors, 16 resistors, 15 capacitors, 3 ICs and 3 test points.

HostBoard: common questions

What microcontroller does the HostBoard use?

The HostBoard is built around the Socketed MCU - STM32 BlackPill, from the STM32 family.

How big is the HostBoard PCB?

The HostBoard measures 78.2 × 70.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HostBoard?

53 components, from 14 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HostBoard design files?

From the comradef191/ThermEX repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HostBoard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which comradef191 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the HostBoard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
