About the Main PCB

Main is an open source STM32 PCB design by cuspaceflight, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 40 mm, with 39 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F405RxTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MCP2562 and MICROSD. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 10 resistors, 7 connectors, 3 ICs, 3 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

Main: common questions

What microcontroller does the Main use?

The Main is built around the STM32F405RxTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Main PCB?

The Main measures 40 × 40 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Main?

39 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Main design files?

From the cuspaceflight/m3-avionics repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Main design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with cuspaceflight. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Main without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
