About the Motor control validation platform PCB

Motor control validation platform is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by damian-EE, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 60 mm, with 12 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ARDUINO_LINK, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 6 connectors and 6 test points.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Arduino motor control and validation platform with INA219 sensing, Python logging and a KiCad carrier PCB

A 2-layer KiCad carrier PCB for a small motor test platform (a 12 V DC gear motor with a Hall encoder), plus the breadboard prototype used to validate the circuit. The prototype drives the motor from an Arduino through an H-bridge, measures speed and supply current while it runs, and logs the data to CSV with a Python script. The PCB replaces the breadboard wiring.

Motor control validation platform: common questions

What microcontroller does the Motor control validation platform use?

The Motor control validation platform is built around the ARDUINO_LINK, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Motor control validation platform PCB?

The Motor control validation platform measures 80 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Motor control validation platform?

12 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Motor control validation platform design files?

From the damian-EE/motor-control-validation-platform repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Motor control validation platform design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which damian-EE chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Motor control validation platform without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
