About the Front-End-Power-Protection PCB

Front-End-Power-Protection is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by DannyJusvin, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 10 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_UNO_R3, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 2 connectors, 2 buzzers, 2 diodes, 2 resistors and 1 module.

From the project

A discrete 12V DC power safeguard featuring fast-response over-voltage protection (with hysteresis), reverse polarity protection, soft-start logic, and comprehensive transient simulation analysis.

This project presents a discrete front-end power protection circuit designed for 12V DC systems. It protects sensitive electronics from unsafe input conditions using a P-channel MOSFET-based high-side topology.

Over-voltage protection (OVP) with hysteresis Reverse polarity protection * Controlled soft-start to mitigate inrush current

The circuit was designed, simulated, and validated in LTspice, and documented with a complete engineering workflow.

Front-End-Power-Protection: common questions

What microcontroller does the Front-End-Power-Protection use?

The Front-End-Power-Protection is built around the Arduino_UNO_R3, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the Front-End-Power-Protection?

10 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Front-End-Power-Protection design files?

From the DannyJusvin/Front-End-Power-Protection repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Front-End-Power-Protection design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with DannyJusvin. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Front-End-Power-Protection without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
