UMDv3 Kicad PCB
This PCB includes a very performant MCU, STM32F407VET6, which is connected to a generalized databus consisting of 24 address bits and 16 data lines. Along with a dozen or so control signals, it should be sufficient to interface with most cartridge types. Each cartridge type requires a separate PCB for interface, please refer to the main project repository for a list of currently available cartridge apdapters.

UMDv3: common questions
What microcontroller does the UMDv3 use?
The UMDv3 is built around the STM32F407VET6TR, from the STM32 family.
How big is the UMDv3 PCB?
The UMDv3 measures 147.3 × 83.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the UMDv3?
67 components, from 27 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the UMDv3 design files?
From the db-electronics/UMDv3-kicad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the UMDv3 design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-1.2 license, which db-electronics chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the UMDv3 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
