About the Atmega1281-Development-Board

Atmega1281-Development-Board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by DrItanium, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 69.8 × 84.3 mm, with 22 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega1281-16A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LD1117V33. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 5 resistors, 3 connectors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

KiCAD 6 project for a simple Atmega1281 Development Board designed for my ecore and sxchipset work

This is a simple development board for the QFP version of the ATMEGA1281. The layout of the connector is an extended superset of the digital header found on the Arduino Mega + an internal MajorCore development board I have also created.

The rest of the pins are laid out to make it trivial to design plugin boards for my ecore and SxChipset projects.

The board is designed for the AISLER PCB manufacturing service.

Atmega1281-Development-Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Atmega1281-Development-Board use?

The Atmega1281-Development-Board is built around the ATmega1281-16A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Atmega1281-Development-Board?

The Atmega1281-Development-Board measures 69.8 × 84.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Atmega1281-Development-Board?

22 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Atmega1281-Development-Board design files?

From the DrItanium/Atmega1281-Development-Board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Atmega1281-Development-Board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which DrItanium chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Atmega1281-Development-Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
