About the 6-key-Macro-Pad PCB

6-key-Macro-Pad is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by EriicLii, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 88.9 × 48.3 mm, with 28 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA32U4, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 6 relays, 6 diodes, 4 resistors, 1 IC and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

Components used from https://github.com/tmk/kicadlibtmk

Built with SMD components, and ATMega32u4.

QMK firmware setup was very easy. Kudos to everyone involved in the project as the abundance documentation and organization made it simple to get a new keyboard firmware set up. Right now I only have the option to manually change the keymaps in QMK then recompile. I'll perhaps attempt to make a Via keymap later as well. (Also I need to add pictures of the build!)

6-key-Macro-Pad: common questions

What microcontroller does the 6-key-Macro-Pad use?

The 6-key-Macro-Pad is built around the ATMEGA32U4, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the 6-key-Macro-Pad PCB?

The 6-key-Macro-Pad measures 88.9 × 48.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the 6-key-Macro-Pad?

28 components, from 12 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the 6-key-Macro-Pad design files?

From the EriicLii/6-key-Macro-Pad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the 6-key-Macro-Pad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with EriicLii. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the 6-key-Macro-Pad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
