About the Sipm hv splitter PCB

Sipm hv splitter is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by eshazen, published on GitHub. It is a 6-layer board measuring 63.5 × 33 mm, with 127 components from 44 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328-M, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the INA201, LM51581, LT3014XS5, AD5270 and OPA810XDCK. By type, the board carries 54 capacitors, 47 resistors, 15 ICs, 3 transistors, 3 connectors and 3 diodes.

From the project

Power supplies and electronics for SiPM base optodes

This is a PCB intended to replace the "splitter" board, connecting directly to a detector interface card with a very short ribbon. It provides programmable, current-limited HV bias to 8 SiPMs along with TIA readout of each SiPM.

The targent dimensions for the prototype are 2.5 x 1.3 inches.

The SiPM connectors are the "NIRX" standard .050" pitch 4-pin with pinout as follows (top view of female header on this board):

Sipm hv splitter: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sipm hv splitter use?

The Sipm hv splitter is built around the ATMEGA328-M, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Sipm hv splitter PCB?

The Sipm hv splitter measures 63.5 × 33 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sipm hv splitter?

127 components, from 44 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sipm hv splitter design files?

From the eshazen/ninjanirs-sipm repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sipm hv splitter design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with eshazen. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Sipm hv splitter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
