About the Chewing gum PCB

Chewing gum is an open source PCB design by esl-epfl, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 13.1 × 49.3 mm, with 23 components from 21 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the INA212AIDCKR and FT4232HL. By type, the board carries 10 connectors, 6 resistors, 3 capacitors, 2 ICs and 1 diode.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a set of PCBs to test, in principle, X-HEEP chips (CHEEPs)... but, you can use it to test any chip you want, for what it matters.

The general idea is to recycle efforts, so all the things that are common to any CHEEP were moved into a main board. This one includes an FTDI through which you can program or communicate with your cheep, as well as some peripherals like flash, buttons, LEDs, etc. The main board also generates all the voltages needed by these blocks.

Chewing gum: common questions

How big is the Chewing gum PCB?

The Chewing gum measures 13.1 × 49.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Chewing gum?

23 components, from 21 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Chewing gum design files?

From the esl-epfl/HEEPidermis repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Chewing gum design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with esl-epfl. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
