About the Slice IOCT PCB

Slice IOCT is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by feastorg, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 100 mm, with 46 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the AP63205, LTV-817S and CPC1002N. By type, the board carries 13 resistors, 9 ICs, 9 capacitors, 4 connectors, 4 diodes and 3 switches.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Rugged digital I/O controller slice with isolated inputs and protected outputs for industrial sensors and actuators.

Rugged digital I/O controller slice with isolated inputs and protected outputs for industrial sensors and actuators.

Template for creating BREAD slices. Features Arduino Nano, small dimensions (70x100mm), 2 layers, and this is the second revision (TEMPNANOS2L-r2).

This Slice is designed to be a rugged digital input and output slice that can interface directly with 24V industrial sensors and actuators. It mimics a PLC-style IO module for the BREADS system. It prioritizes input protection, reliable switching, and compatibility with common field devices.

Slice IOCT: common questions

What microcontroller does the Slice IOCT use?

The Slice IOCT is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Slice IOCT PCB?

The Slice IOCT measures 70 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.67 mm thick.

How many components are on the Slice IOCT?

46 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Slice IOCT design files?

From the feastorg/Slice_IOCT repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Slice IOCT design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which feastorg chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Slice IOCT without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
