About the Stepper motor controller PCB

Stepper motor controller is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by FibStack, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 65 × 56.5 mm, with 32 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny826-S, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74LS148. By type, the board carries 13 resistors, 8 connectors, 5 capacitors, 2 ICs, 2 transistors and 1 switch.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

Board to control four stepper motors.

This repository includes the source files for the Stepper Motor Control board, capable of controlling the direction, steps, and speed of up to four stepper motors concurrently through the I2C interface.

Kindly note that the project is currently in the prototype phase, and further changes and updates are expected.

- hardware/ - this folder contains the board circuit schematic and PCB design files. - software/util - contains the source code of a simple CLI application to interact with the board. - software/stepper-motor-controller - contains the firmware source code for ATTiny devices.

Stepper motor controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Stepper motor controller use?

The Stepper motor controller is built around the ATtiny826-S, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Stepper motor controller PCB?

The Stepper motor controller measures 65 × 56.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Stepper motor controller?

32 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Stepper motor controller design files?

From the FibStack/stepper-motor-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Stepper motor controller design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Stepper motor controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
