About the Embedded twin PCB

Embedded twin is an open source STM32 PCB design by FionaKP, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 14 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AP2112K-3.3 and TMP102. By type, the board carries 4 resistors, 3 ICs, 1 battery holder, 1 switch, 1 LED and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the rf & radio, iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Digital-twin simulation of embedded hardware: run firmware, probe pins, model power/thermal, and simulate GNSS/cellular/BLE environments — entirely on a PC.

A realistic battery-powered tracker, defined the way a real project is: a KiCad netlist + BOM (hardware/), firmware (firmware/tracker_fw.py), and a set of ringer scenarios (scenarios/).

The board: 18650 cell → AP2112 LDO → 3.3 V rail. STM32F405 MCU, NEO-M8N GNSS (duty-cycled via EN), SARA-R5 cellular modem (powered straight from VBAT, as real designs do), RN4870 BLE, TMP102 temp sensor, status LED, user button.

Embedded twin: common questions

What microcontroller does the Embedded twin use?

The Embedded twin is built around the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family.

How many components are on the Embedded twin?

14 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Embedded twin design files?

From the FionaKP/embedded-twin repository on GitHub, which has a netlist and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Embedded twin design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with FionaKP. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Embedded twin without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
