About the FlatPort PCB

FlatPort is an open source PCB design by fire-h0und, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 18 × 30.7 mm, with 30 components from 18 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6 and LD3985M33R_SOT23. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 8 resistors, 4 diodes, 2 ICs, 2 crystals and 1 inductor.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

Teensy 2.0 Risc-V dropin Arduino promicro lookalike with special features

It has a in-plane Type-C USB receptacle - it does not show much but it doubles as a full featured Type-C port - in this case a reversible USB 2.0 spec port only.

It also features in-plane Reset and Boot0 tasters - they are shorted by touching with a pointy conductive/metal object. Do note they are not to be touched mutually by a same metal object: one shorts pin Boot0 to ground the other pulls the reset pin to Vcc. In effect this means one of the contacts is gound and the other is Vcc - shorting them mutually would blow the fuse!

FlatPort: common questions

How big is the FlatPort PCB?

The FlatPort measures 18 × 30.7 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the FlatPort?

30 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FlatPort design files?

From the fire-h0und/FlatPort repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FlatPort design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which fire-h0und chose for the repository.
