About the Fmc memory adapter PCB

Fmc memory adapter is an open source STM32 PCB design by FlorianFrank, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 200.1 × 170.2 mm, with 27 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the PinHeader_2x32_P2.54mm_Vertical, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the SN74AVC8T245PWG4. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 9 connectors and 6 ICs.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

A comprehensive test platform for advanced memory device characterization combining FPGA acceleration, real-time firmware, and automated experiment scheduling

This folder contains all the design and manufacturing files for a PCB adapter that enables interfacing various memory modules, such as FRAM, MRAM, and ReRAM memory modules with the AMD Zynq UltraScale+™ MPSoC ZCU102 Evaluation Kit.

The board is designed to connect to the FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) J5 connector on the ZCU102. It acts as a level-shifting bridge, converting the board’s output power rails (1.2 V, 1.5 V, or 1.8 V) to a standard CMOS 3.3 V logic level.

Fmc memory adapter: common questions

What microcontroller does the Fmc memory adapter use?

The Fmc memory adapter is built around the PinHeader_2x32_P2.54mm_Vertical, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Fmc memory adapter PCB?

The Fmc memory adapter measures 200.1 × 170.2 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Fmc memory adapter?

27 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Fmc memory adapter design files?

From the FlorianFrank/MemTestX repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Fmc memory adapter design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which FlorianFrank chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Fmc memory adapter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
