From the project

A complete reimplementation of the LEGO Dimensions toypad spec using embedded C++

This project is a reverse-engineered implementation of a LEGO Dimensions (currently only PS3 / Wii U) playpad. This project also includes a simpler project which communicates with an OEM playpad to act as a lamp/night-light, as well as a Python script for communication as well.

- basic-emulator is an implementation of the playpad HID spec, running on a Raspberry Pi Pico W, alongside a Web UI for easy controls. - rgb-controller is a simpler project which sends basic USB HID commands to an existing, stock playpad for use as a lamp. This is powered by an ESP32-S3, and comes with a simple Web UI…

PS3: common questions

How big is the PS3 PCB?

The PS3 measures 80.5 × 101.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PS3?

17 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PS3 design files?

From the FromDarkHell/LegoDimensionsRGB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PS3 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with FromDarkHell. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
