About the Keyboard PCB

Keyboard is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by georgsnarbuts, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 313 × 129 mm, with 185 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the atmega, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 83 diodes, 81 LEDs, 7 resistors, 5 capacitors, 3 switches and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

a 65 % keyboard

A fully custom 65% mechanical keyboard, assembled entirely from through-hole components and left visible under a clear acrylic top plate. Named for the skyline embossed into its back plate.

The sample board pictured was built with Gateron Yellow switches (filmed, lubed with Krytox 205g0) and Durock stabilisers.

firmware/ is a QMK keyboard definition, not a standalone project. Drop it into a QMK checkout before building:

Keyboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Keyboard use?

The Keyboard is built around the atmega, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Keyboard PCB?

The Keyboard measures 313 × 129 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keyboard?

185 components, from 28 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keyboard design files?

From the georgsnarbuts/riga65 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keyboard design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Keyboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
