About the SolarLoRaBox PCB

SolarLoRaBox is an open source STM32 PCB design by h0lad, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 71.3 × 92.8 mm, with 52 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32U083CCT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the BQ25185, HE9073A30MR, APX803L05-32SA-7, W25Q128JVS and SS26_C5350986. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 12 resistors, 9 connectors, 8 ICs, 2 switches and 1 diode.

It belongs with the rf & radio and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

An experimental low power LoRa platform based on the ST STM32U083CCT6 + Heltec RA-62 (Semtech SX1262) + 128MBit Flash and the solar charge controller TI BQ25185

This is an experimental platform for an solar driven LoRa sensor station based on the

- Microcontroller: ST STM32U083CCT6 - Radio: Heltec HT-RA62 (Semtech SX1262) - Charging Controller: TI BQ25185 - Flash: Windbond W25Q128JVS (128 MBit) - Reset IC: APX803L05-32SA-7 (3.2V) - LDO: HEERMICR HE9073A30MR (3.0V)

Plan is to´ use it as platform for a wireless sensor based on Zephyr.

SolarLoRaBox: common questions

What microcontroller does the SolarLoRaBox use?

The SolarLoRaBox is built around the STM32U083CCT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the SolarLoRaBox PCB?

The SolarLoRaBox measures 71.3 × 92.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SolarLoRaBox?

52 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SolarLoRaBox design files?

From the h0lad/SolarLoRaBox repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SolarLoRaBox design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which h0lad chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the SolarLoRaBox without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
