About the SD2IEC Pluggable PCB

SD2IEC Pluggable is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by hackup, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50 × 49.4 mm, with 44 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA644-20AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 16 resistors, 8 connectors, 7 capacitors, 4 transistors, 3 diodes and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the retro computing designs in this gallery.

SD2IEC Pluggable

KiCAD project files for my take on a SD2IEC compatible board. The schematics are heavily based on the design by Shadowolf. The BOM export is included in the repository. There should probably be more documentation here, but while it is still missing you may find some additional information on my blog. This is all work in progress with absolutely no guarantees. SD2IEC Pluggable: common questions

What microcontroller does the SD2IEC Pluggable use?

The SD2IEC Pluggable is built around the ATMEGA644-20AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the SD2IEC Pluggable PCB?

The SD2IEC Pluggable measures 50 × 49.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SD2IEC Pluggable?

44 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SD2IEC Pluggable design files?

From the hackup/SD2IECplug repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SD2IEC Pluggable design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with hackup. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SD2IEC Pluggable without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
