About the POV-Display PCB

POV-Display is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by harshini-subbiah, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50 × 229 mm, with 20 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v2.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 9 resistors, 7 diodes, 2 connectors, 1 module and 1 battery holder.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Persistence of Vision (POV) is an optical phenomenon where an image remains on the retina for a short time even after the object is no longer visible. By leveraging this phenomenon with an Arduino Nano and LEDs arranged on a rotating platform, we can create the illusion of characters and symbols appearing in mid-air.

2.Serial Bluetooth Terminal app for Bluetooth module

3.Connect the Bluetooth module to the app. It will appear as HC-05 and the password will either be 1234 or 0000.

POV-Display: common questions

What microcontroller does the POV-Display use?

The POV-Display is built around the Arduino_Nano_v2.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the POV-Display PCB?

The POV-Display measures 50 × 229 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the POV-Display?

20 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the POV-Display design files?

From the harshini-subbiah/POV-Display repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the POV-Display design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with harshini-subbiah. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the POV-Display without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
