About the Custom carrier PCB

Custom carrier is an open source PCB design by hdlguy, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 70 × 75 mm, with 16 components from 8 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 8 connectors, 5 resistors, 2 diodes and 1 capacitor.

Miscellaneous KiCad work

This is a repo to contain some simple attempts to use Kicad 6 to design printed circuit boards.

I like to make it so that design files are usable by just cloning them from GitHub but that is not completely possible with KiCad because libraries are external to the design folders and KiCad relies on user level pathname to access libraries.

The official KiCad libraries are cloned from these url:

The KiCad project lives in the hdlguy/kicad repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Custom carrier: common questions

How big is the Custom carrier PCB?

The Custom carrier measures 70 × 75 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.548384 mm thick.

How many components are on the Custom carrier?

16 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Custom carrier design files?

From the hdlguy/kicad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Custom carrier design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which hdlguy chose for the repository.
