About the WizardElectronicGame PCB

WizardElectronicGame is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by hotkeysoft, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 60 × 125 mm, with 32 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 16 switches, 6 capacitors, 6 resistors, 1 IC, 1 crystal and 1 connector.

From the project

Wizard Electronic Game (TMS1000 emulator running on ATmega328P)

The microcontroller runs a TMS1000-series emulator I made.

Two ROMs are loaded on the emulator: Merlin (TMS1100) and Master Merlin (TMS1400) (by Parker Brothers).

By default the game boots in Merlin mode. To play Master Merlin, press any of the four mode buttons while turning on the console.

WizardElectronicGame: common questions

What microcontroller does the WizardElectronicGame use?

The WizardElectronicGame is built around the ATmega328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the WizardElectronicGame PCB?

The WizardElectronicGame measures 60 × 125 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the WizardElectronicGame?

32 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the WizardElectronicGame design files?

From the hotkeysoft/wizardElectronicGame-kicad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the WizardElectronicGame design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which hotkeysoft chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the WizardElectronicGame without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
