About the HappyBirthdayMickey A PCB
HappyBirthdayMickey A is an open source PIC PCB design by Hxntyr, published on GitHub under the CC0-1.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 109.4 × 114.9 mm, with 45 components from 14 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the PIC12F1572T-I/MF, from the PIC family. Other key parts include the MCP1640T-I/CHY. By type, the board carries 24 diodes, 12 resistors, 3 capacitors, 2 ICs, 1 battery holder and 1 fuse.
From the project
PIC-based RGB ornament PCB design with 24 low-current RGB LEDs, coin-cell power, boost regulation, and PCBA-friendly hardware.
A template for making — and a collection of — small RGB LED PCB ornaments.
The core circuit uses a PIC12F1572, CR2450R coin cell, and MCP1640 boost converter to drive 24 low-current RGB LEDs through three shared PWM channels. It is intended to be reused across different board shapes, artwork, and LED layouts without redesigning the electronics each time.
Copy the core project, make your own layout, generate the manufacturing files, and send it off for PCBA — or purchase the components and assemble it yourself.

HappyBirthdayMickey A: common questions
What microcontroller does the HappyBirthdayMickey A use?
The HappyBirthdayMickey A is built around the PIC12F1572T-I/MF, from the PIC family.
How big is the HappyBirthdayMickey A PCB?
The HappyBirthdayMickey A measures 109.4 × 114.9 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the HappyBirthdayMickey A?
45 components, from 14 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the HappyBirthdayMickey A design files?
From the Hxntyr/PIC-RGB-Ornament-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the HappyBirthdayMickey A design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its CC0-1.0 license, which Hxntyr chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the HappyBirthdayMickey A without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
