About the Ik PCB

Ik is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by ianmaclarty, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 134.7 × 126.6 mm, with 54 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040_Zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

Ian's Keyboard

A 52 key, split, low-profile, column staggered keyboard using a Waveshare RP2040 Zero MCU and Gateron KS-33 switches, running QMK.

The layout is similar to the ZSA Voyager, but with the outer top key moved to a third thumb position.

The keyboard is about 16mm high from the table to the top of the keycap when using low-profile keycaps.

A set of printable low-profile thumb keycaps is also included in this repo.

Ik: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ik use?

The Ik is built around the RP2040_Zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Ik PCB?

The Ik measures 134.7 × 126.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.29 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ik?

54 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ik design files?

From the ianmaclarty/ik repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ik design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Ik without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
