About the Angel PCB

Angel is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by jamessa, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 270.8 × 80.8 mm, with 97 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ProMicro, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 48 switches, 48 diodes and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

Angel - a symmetrical staggered ergonomic keyboard.

Hand wired QMK is almost ready. https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/pull/11501

A symmetric staggered ergonomic keyboard.

A slightly ergonomic keyboard that fits into 60% form factor.

* Fitts' law is respected. Four corner keys are maximized while [you shall no call its name] is break into 3 keys. The gaint space bar is a huge waste ot thumb(s). It breaks into 1.25, 1.5, 1.25 to free it up. My favorite combination is, backspace, enter, whitespace.

Angel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Angel use?

The Angel is built around the ProMicro, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Angel PCB?

The Angel measures 270.8 × 80.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Angel?

97 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Angel design files?

From the jamessa/Angel repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Angel design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jamessa. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Angel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
