About the Ligra back PCB

Ligra back is an open source STM32 PCB design by Jana-Marie, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 106.7 × 106.7 mm, with 55 components from 28 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F030F4Px, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AL8843, NCP1117-12_SOT223, NCP1117-3.3_SOT223 and DRV8231. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 12 resistors, 9 connectors, 5 ICs, 3 transistors and 3 diodes.

From the project

an open source image projector build from scratch and based off of flea market parts.

This board serves as power-input and LED controller for a 0-3A 0-5V LED. It currently is v1.0.0 and has an additional DC-motor speed controller onboard, you can safely ignore it. I plan to build a different version for myself, that is a bit more advanced, feel free to then also use it. Generally this board is fully optional, but may prove to be very useful.

Ligra back: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ligra back use?

The Ligra back is built around the STM32F030F4Px, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Ligra back PCB?

The Ligra back measures 106.7 × 106.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ligra back?

55 components, from 28 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ligra back design files?

From the Jana-Marie/ligra repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ligra back design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which Jana-Marie chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Ligra back without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
