About the Humla PCB

Humla is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by jimmerricks, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 210.2 × 94.3 mm, with 77 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ProMicro, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 38 switches, 36 diodes, 1 IC and 1 battery holder.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

The Humla is a 36-key low profile keyboard based on the Reviung by gtips and the Rev-lp by cyril279. It is for choc switches (with 18x17mm spacing) and has basic support for bluetooth pro micro alternatives such as the nRFMicro. Humla means blumblebee in Swedish.

Humla: common questions

What microcontroller does the Humla use?

The Humla is built around the ProMicro, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Humla PCB?

The Humla measures 210.2 × 94.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Humla?

77 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Humla design files?

From the jimmerricks/humla repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Humla design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which jimmerricks chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Humla without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
