About the Ebus2usb PCB

Ebus2usb is an open source STM32 PCB design by jkyprian, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 87 × 30.8 mm, with 48 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32L412KBT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AZV3002, ADUM1201, SRV05-4 and XC6206P332MR. By type, the board carries 15 resistors, 12 capacitors, 7 connectors, 7 diodes, 5 ICs and 2 transistors.

From the project

1TE DIN Rail eBus to USB Type-C Adapter

eBUS is a serial 2-wire serial data-bus, often used in heating, solar energy, and other building automation systems. This project provides an interface to access an eBUS via USB. It uses a series transistor regulator circuit with a low IZT zener diode to extract the operating voltage from the eBUS, an ADuM1201 for the galvanic isolation, and a STM32 microcontroller for the UART to USB conversion. Power consumption on the eBUS side is between 475uA (eBUS low/8V) and 750uA (eBUS idle high/24V), making the interface qualify as a class 0 device with respect to the eBUS specification. It has been…

Ebus2usb: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ebus2usb use?

The Ebus2usb is built around the STM32L412KBT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Ebus2usb PCB?

The Ebus2usb measures 87 × 30.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ebus2usb?

48 components, from 30 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ebus2usb design files?

From the jkyprian/ebus2usb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ebus2usb design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jkyprian. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Ebus2usb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
