About the Switch PCB

Switch is an open source STM32 PCB design by Jochen0x90h, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70.5 × 70.5 mm, with 29 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F042F6Px, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MPQ6526GU and NCV7428MW. By type, the board carries 5 diodes, 5 resistors, 4 connectors, 4 relays, 4 switches and 4 capacitors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Smart home room controller based on nRF52840 with MQTT and and IEEE 802.15.4 radio support. Buttons and relays for lights and roller shutters can also be connected with a local bus using LIN physical layer

RoomControl =========== Smart home room controller based on nRF52840 with MQTT and and IEEE 802.15.4 radio support. Buttons and relays for lights and blinds can also be connected with a local bus using LIN physical layer.

Control ------- This is a 3D printed box with a display and digital potentiometer that gets installed in each room instead of the floor heating thermostat. It can control the heating valve using an opto-triac, connect to light and blind switches and relays using LIN physical layer and to battery-free switches (EnOcan) using an IEEE 802.15.4 radio interface.

Switch: common questions

What microcontroller does the Switch use?

The Switch is built around the STM32F042F6Px, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Switch PCB?

The Switch measures 70.5 × 70.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Switch?

29 components, from 19 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Switch design files?

From the Jochen0x90h/RoomControl repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Switch design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Switch without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
