About the JoeMBMC V3.1 PCB

JoeMBMC V3.1 is an open source NXP PCB design by JoeMudr, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 68 × 92 mm, with 67 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the TEENSY4.0, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the SN65HVD230, DCDC 5V, IS281-4, DCDC 3.3V and C7843. By type, the board carries 32 resistors, 14 capacitors, 8 ICs, 6 diodes, 3 transistors and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

This project is derived from Toms SimpBMS code. It started as a clone (Software & Hardware) but ended up completely rewritten and redesigned. But you might still find some traces to the original code.

JoeMBMC V3.1: common questions

What microcontroller does the JoeMBMC V3.1 use?

The JoeMBMC V3.1 is built around the TEENSY4.0, from the NXP family.

How big is the JoeMBMC V3.1 PCB?

The JoeMBMC V3.1 measures 68 × 92 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the JoeMBMC V3.1?

67 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the JoeMBMC V3.1 design files?

From the JoeMudr/JoeMBMC repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the JoeMBMC V3.1 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which JoeMudr chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the JoeMBMC V3.1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
