About the Timrrr PCB

Timrrr is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by johnowhitaker, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 32 × 32 mm, with 16 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY412-SSNR, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 3 test points, 3 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 diodes, 1 IC and 1 module.

Hey! Johno the human here. This repo/project is in part a test of the state of 'vibe electronics'. The board works but requires a minor bodge, bridging pins 6&7 on the ATtiny chip. Apart from that it works exactly as hopes! The goal is to train my 'time sense' and avoid taking logner-than-expected breaks. The whole process of this (apart from debugging the wrong pin during board bring-up) was smooth and pleasant, and I'm a little in awe of the fact that I could get 5 boards ASSEMBLED for $15, albeit with the new-customer $10 discount applied and a simple little circuit. Delightful times.…

Timrrr: common questions

What microcontroller does the Timrrr use?

The Timrrr is built around the ATTINY412-SSNR, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Timrrr PCB?

The Timrrr measures 32 × 32 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the Timrrr?

16 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Timrrr design files?

From the johnowhitaker/timrrr repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Timrrr design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with johnowhitaker. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Timrrr without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
