A Kicad project for an Atmega328PB-AU minimal board. I got a few of these microcontrollers and I read that they have some interesting features that Atmega328Ps don't have, such as additional USART, SPI, Timers, etc.

There's a 10-pin AVR ICSP header. I used USBASP with Arduino to burn an Arduino bootloader and flash a sketch. I used this github project to get the Atmega328PB board definition files working and used the "Atmega328PB Internal Clock" with the 8MHz option to flash the bootloader. The microcontroller board has a crystal oscillator. If it's populated with a 16MHz crystal, for…

Atmega328PB minimal board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Atmega328PB minimal board use?

The Atmega328PB minimal board is built around the ATmega328PB-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Atmega328PB minimal board?

The Atmega328PB minimal board measures 54 × 33.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Atmega328PB minimal board?

13 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Atmega328PB minimal board design files?

From the jovan3/atmega328PB_minimal_board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Atmega328PB minimal board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jovan3. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Atmega328PB minimal board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
