Alternative control board for Record Power AC-400 air filter

This repository contains a drop-in replacement PCB and firmware for the Record Power AC400 Air Filter controller.

The original AC400 controller is prone to failure due to its simplistic power supply design, which often results in various failures. While the company's support is very good, the replacement controller is still prone to the same issues.

This design aims to provide a solution that is more robust, and tries to keep using original parts where possible. It also uses an ~~ATmega88PA~~ ATmega328P microcontroller, as existing refurbishment stock (note: the ATmega88 I had probably has…

Avr ac400: common questions

What microcontroller does the Avr ac400 use?

The Avr ac400 is built around the ATmega328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Avr ac400 PCB?

The Avr ac400 measures 105.4 × 76.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Avr ac400?

57 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Avr ac400 design files?

From the julian7/avr-ac400 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Avr ac400 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-4.0 license, which julian7 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Avr ac400 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
