About the OMIDItone V2 PCB
OMIDItone V2 is an open source NXP PCB design by kiyoshigawa, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 106.7 × 109.2 mm, with 75 components from 17 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Teensy3.2, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the DUAL-OPTO and MCP-4151. By type, the board carries 30 resistors, 19 ICs, 8 connectors, 6 transistors and 6 switches.
It belongs with the audio and test & measurement designs in this gallery.
From the project
Turning otamatones into MIDI controlled instruments.
This is a project that takes an otamatone (https://otamatone.com/) and hijacks the control using digital potentiometers and a Teensy running USB MIDI libraries to turn it into a MIDI instrument.
The Controller PCB files currently use optoisolators. This design does not work correctly. I manually replaced the optoisolators with darlington NPN transistors, and that led to everything functioning as intended. I plan to revisit the PCB ocne I've tested the advanced features of the board (such as the servo control for opening the mouths, and the addressable LED lighting for the heads) to avoid…

OMIDItone V2: common questions
What microcontroller does the OMIDItone V2 use?
The OMIDItone V2 is built around the Teensy3.2, from the NXP family.
How big is the OMIDItone V2 PCB?
The OMIDItone V2 measures 106.7 × 109.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the OMIDItone V2?
75 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the OMIDItone V2 design files?
From the kiyoshigawa/oMIDItone repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the OMIDItone V2 design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kiyoshigawa. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the OMIDItone V2 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
