About the OMIDItone Controller V2 PCB

OMIDItone Controller V2 is an open source NXP PCB design by kiyoshigawa, published on GitHub under the LGPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 106.7 × 109.2 mm, with 75 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Teensy3.2, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the DUAL-OPTO and MCP-4151. By type, the board carries 30 resistors, 19 ICs, 8 connectors, 6 transistors and 6 switches.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a refactored and updated version of the code in the https://github.com/kiyoshigawa/oMIDItone github repo intended to simplify and make faster the existing code base while simultaneously switching to PlatformIO.

This is a refactored and updated version of the code in the https://github.com/kiyoshigawa/oMIDItone github repo intended to simplify and make faster the existing code base while simultaneously switching to PlatformIO.

It is code written to run a 6-head MIDI controlled Otamatone synth, including lighting and mouth opening/closing servo animations. The project is running on a Teensy 3.2, using the arduino framework through PlatformIO, and is using the following libraries in addition to the libraries that I have written myself specifically for this project…

OMIDItone Controller V2: common questions

What microcontroller does the OMIDItone Controller V2 use?

The OMIDItone Controller V2 is built around the Teensy3.2, from the NXP family.

How big is the OMIDItone Controller V2 PCB?

The OMIDItone Controller V2 measures 106.7 × 109.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the OMIDItone Controller V2?

75 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the OMIDItone Controller V2 design files?

From the kiyoshigawa/oMIDItone_Controller_V2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the OMIDItone Controller V2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its LGPL-3.0 license, which kiyoshigawa chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the OMIDItone Controller V2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
