About the PocketAdmin PCB

PocketAdmin is an open source STM32 PCB design by krakrukra, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 15 × 31 mm, with 25 components from 14 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F072C8Tx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the IP4220CZ6, MCP1700-3302E/TT and W25N01GVZEIG. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 resistors, 2 connectors, 1 crystal and 1 switch.

oshw keystroke injection device ( badusb )

This is a keystroke injection device (also called badusb). It is similar to a well-known USB rubber ducky made by hak5, has rather extensive functionality, lower price and is also completely open source. It looks and feels like an ordinary USB flash drive, but acts as a keyboard that types in a preprogrammed payload. This payload can do anything from configuring a network to installing a reverse shell, since the device can basically do whatever an admin can with a terminal, but taking only a few seconds. This makes it a very powerful tool for automating sysadmin tasks or use in penetration…

PocketAdmin: common questions

What microcontroller does the PocketAdmin use?

The PocketAdmin is built around the STM32F072C8Tx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the PocketAdmin PCB?

The PocketAdmin measures 15 × 31 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PocketAdmin?

25 components, from 14 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PocketAdmin design files?

From the krakrukra/PocketAdmin repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PocketAdmin design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which krakrukra chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PocketAdmin without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
