About the Bikepixel PCB

Bikepixel is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by kstopa, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 20.1 mm, with 14 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 4 switches, 3 connectors and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Set of awesome fully customizable bicycle lights.

Open Source Hardware project to build a set of highly customizable bycicle lights based on Arduino and Neo Pixel RGB matrixes. Currently all models can present different images in different colors with custom effects (blinking, bitting) and with adjustable brightness.

Check Bike Pixel Official site to the more details and recent news.

Arduino IDE: to write, biuld and upload the code to the Arduino board. FreeCAD: to design the cases. KiCAD: to design electronic schemas and the PCBs. Fritzing: only for circuit sketch documentation.

Bikepixel: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bikepixel use?

The Bikepixel is built around the Arduino, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Bikepixel PCB?

The Bikepixel measures 80 × 20.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bikepixel?

14 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bikepixel design files?

From the kstopa/bikepixel repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bikepixel design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kstopa. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Bikepixel without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
