About the PCBCard PCB

PCBCard is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by kwame-y, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 89 × 51 mm, with 12 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY85-20SU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MAX30102EFD+T and NT3H2211W0FHKH. By type, the board carries 4 resistors, 3 ICs, 2 diodes, 2 capacitors and 1 battery holder.

I mainly worked on this because I wanted to challenge to construct my fully polished PCB device, and to get my foot in the door in learning electronics, KiCAD, and some SVG editors.

PCBCard: common questions

What microcontroller does the PCBCard use?

The PCBCard is built around the ATTINY85-20SU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the PCBCard PCB?

The PCBCard measures 89 × 51 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PCBCard?

12 components, from 9 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PCBCard design files?

From the kwame-y/PCBCard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PCBCard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which kwame-y chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PCBCard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
