Signal chain: M12 5-pin A-coded CAN/power in (J1) → 1.5 A PTC fuse → SS510 reverse-polarity Schottky → SMCJ51A 51 V TVS → LM5164-Q1 24 V→5 V/1 A buck → TLV75533 3.3 V LDO. An ATtiny1616 acts as an I²C-slave timing MCU (UPDI programmable), with headers for an STX882 433 MHz transmitter and a Waveshare display interface (5 V, CAN, I²C), an LTC2954-1 pushbutton on/off controller driving the buck's EN/UVLO, and PESD2CANFD24V ESD protection on CANH/CANL.

ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter: common questions

What microcontroller does the ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter use?

The ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter is built around the ATTINY1616-SFR, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter?

46 components, from 37 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter design files?

From the lessthancompetent/ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter repository on GitHub, which has a netlist and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with lessthancompetent. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ESP32-M12-CAN-Power-Adapter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
