About the FCK SM-028 PCB

FCK SM-028 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by lsr1, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 15.2 × 18 mm, with 6 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-PICO-D4, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 3 capacitors, 1 antenna and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

passive pcb adapter-plate (drop-in replacement) for SM-028_v1.3 Wi-Fi Module to a ESP32-PICO-D4

Long story short: Once again I compared the voltages and signal pins - turns out these fit to an ESP! So here we go again I guess.

FCK SM-028: common questions

What microcontroller does the FCK SM-028 use?

The FCK SM-028 is built around the ESP32-PICO-D4, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the FCK SM-028 PCB?

The FCK SM-028 measures 15.2 × 18 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FCK SM-028?

6 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FCK SM-028 design files?

From the lsr1/FCK_SM-028 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FCK SM-028 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with lsr1. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the FCK SM-028 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
