About the Fifty. PCB

Fifty. is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by luteron6, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 331 × 78.6 mm, with 104 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RASPBERRY_PI_RP2040-PLUS, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 50 switches, 50 diodes, 2 resistors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

A minimalist 50% keyboard optimized for command lines!

This is my take on a minimalist 50% keyboard optimized for commandlines. I created it to solve a problem controlling the computer in my travel van. There's a monitor and computer mounted in the vehicle, but when I'm using it, there's no good spot to put the keyboard. It could go on my lap, but it's huge (~90% keyboard). And there's no spot for a mouse or touchpad. This solves both these problems. At first the goal was to create a 40% keyboard with a touchpad, but it ended up being a 50% keyboard (48 keys) with a round touchpad and right/left mouse buttons. It uses MX Brown switches, a Cirque…

Fifty.: common questions

What microcontroller does the Fifty. use?

The Fifty. is built around the RASPBERRY_PI_RP2040-PLUS, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Fifty. PCB?

The Fifty. measures 331 × 78.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Fifty.?

104 components, from 10 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Fifty. design files?

From the luteron6/fifty. repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Fifty. design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with luteron6. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Fifty. without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
