About the Magician main board
Magician main board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by magician-project, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 72 × 79 mm, with 59 components from 23 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 14 resistors, 4 connectors, 2 LEDs, 2 diodes, 1 transistor and 1 capacitor.
It belongs with the sensors and robotics & motion designs in this gallery.
From the project
Source code and documentation for the PCB and firmware of the main board of Magician sensor robot
Original Magician Main Board PCB, designed around an Arduino Nano (ATmega328P) with 3x VL53L0X time-of-flight distance sensors and up to 64 lights driven through daisy-chained 74HC595 shift registers, per the top-level README.
This is the board described in the MAGICIAN D3.3 deliverable as replacing the earlier breadboard harness for the V2 camera sensor. It has been moved here from src/kicad/ and superseded by v4/ (MagicianCam4), which moves to a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 and a VL53L5CX multizone ToF sensor. Kept for reference and for any deployments still running this hardware revision.

Magician main board: common questions
What microcontroller does the Magician main board use?
The Magician main board is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Magician main board?
The Magician main board measures 72 × 79 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Magician main board?
59 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Magician main board design files?
From the magician-project/magician_main_board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Magician main board design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with magician-project. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Magician main board without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
