Raspberry Pi that can be connected to a bus.

Raspberry Pi that can be connected to a bus.

The bus is a half-duplex multi-drop bus that runs at 500 Kbps. It uses a Microchip MCP2562 CAN bus transceivers to connect to the bus.

The software environment for the busraspberrypi is more complicated than we would like. The busraspberrypi deliberately uses an ATmega324P microcontroller to be as compatible as possible with the Arduino community. Unfortunately, about the only board out there that used the '324P is the Sanguino and it rapidly fell out of use. Thus, '324P support is a bit more complicated than we would like. The key thing is that…

Bus raspberry pi: common questions

What microcontroller does the Bus raspberry pi use?

The Bus raspberry pi is built around the ATMEGA324_DIP40, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Bus raspberry pi PCB?

The Bus raspberry pi measures 100 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Bus raspberry pi?

42 components, from 31 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Bus raspberry pi design files?

From the makerbus/bus_raspberry_pi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Bus raspberry pi design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with makerbus. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Bus raspberry pi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
