This project is a wifi enabled controller module, and includes an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and a custom PCB utilising the Raspberry Pi Pico. The controller is designed to be used in a variety of applications and the hardware includes an array of neopixels, connected in series to allow for a variety of lighting effects.

Note: This is in active development and is not yet ready for community adoption. Please be patient and check back for updates.

Pico controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pico controller use?

The Pico controller is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Pico controller PCB?

The Pico controller measures 24.5 × 53.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pico controller?

6 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pico controller design files?

From the makerforgetech/pico-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pico controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which makerforgetech chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Pico controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
